Thanks to this forum I replaced the output transformers and go rid of the distortion in the left channel. Now I am getting a putt sound through the speakers and stays on no matter what mode is switched. Any Ideas??

Did you clean the controls with Deoxit?

Output transistors?

Output darlington modules, they are socketed on the 680.

Check that the power supply voltages are stable. +45v at Q402 emitter
and 13v inside the amplifier at D309 cathode.

Thanks Markthefixer. I reset the new output modules and cleaned the contacts. That seems to have cleared everything up.
