Hi Guys,
I picked up a rather "interesting" pair of speakers from a local recycling centre this afternoon, when my eyes landed on these beasts I thought - "They have to be Sansui's!" and when I spun one around to check the model..... HUH?? Dynavox DX 1200C and made in the Republic Of China??...weird! :dunno:
As from the pics attached here they look almost identical to Sansui 'SP' series from the early 70's and I looked up my brochures and they match very closely in cabinet dimensions to the SP1000, hell even the speaker terminal panel is copied off Sansui!!
Can anybody shed anylight on these, as they are the most oddball thing I've come across in ages.
I have to say the drivers look pretty 'cheesy' and the crossovers look cheap and nasty, but they actually do sound quite good, in fact I was very impressed with the sound, I was expecting them to sound like utter crap, but I enjoyed a whole evening playing them on my Pioneer SM83 valve amp. :) :)
I was not going to get them originally, as they have been knocked around a bit, but it turned out that everything electronic was on special that day so I got them for $5, so not a bad score, and all that was needed was the terminals on the midranges and one tweeter resoldered to bring them even again. So I am quite glad I did not leave them behind :)
Ok they're not Sansui but they're pretty dam close to being a good copy though. :p:
Cheers
Glen :)
