Have'nt bought a stylus for this cartridge for many years and don't know which one or style of to look for. I have attached pics to show the best I can with the shape of this cartridge.Going by the cartridge database it shows with a picture that it is a MT-VM, 3.5mv, 20hz-20khz, 47ohms impedance, and the stylus should be spherical (0.7mil) but thats all. Is spherical, Elliptical? and can someone help me with this choosing of the stylus I am looking for.The turntable is a Hitachi PS-38 DD.

Hi you can use any of the ones in this series.

The original I believe is a called a VM8 and it's similar to the cream colored one in that list. Also do a csearch on ebay UK as that cartride model was popular in the UK. Or so i've seen in the time I've looked for replacement styluses.

Thanks Stanton for the info and the link.:thmbsp:
It looks like your garden variety Audio Technica. I suggest the replacement stylus for the ATS10 or the ATS11 (both spherical stylus but the 11 is a lighter tracker). You could also use the replacement stylus for the 11E, which is a .4 X .7 elliptical or any other stylus in group "A."
See pix and maybe order from www.stereoneedles.com
No affiliation but I have ordered from them and was completely satisfied with their service and the product received.

Actually I like the sound of "Garden variety". I have 2 turntables. 1. A Yamaha with a AT11E Stylus & 2. A Hitachi which has a cartridge to accomodate a AT11E. Thanks danj for the relevation. Same stylus for 2 different TT's & different carts. As I have said before, I call thing type of thing, "Iv'e jagged it" Guess it does'nt happen often. Yes, I do like the garden variety.:thmbsp::thmbsp::banana:

More often than you think. That AT cart was omnipresent. The bodies are the same--maybe different colors (Black/white reversed). It was the stylus that determined the specs. AT essentially made a few carts and gave them 1000 names.
