An acquaintance many years ago decided to buy some really expensive speaker cable; this was in the mid-eighties, and I don't recall the brand, but the cable was a hundred bucks a foot. He needed 16' for the right speaker and 19' for the left. He asked my opinion whether I thought it would be okay to buy as needed, rather than getting both at 19', thus saving about three hundred dollars. I advised saving the 300; what do you think?

(He did wind up getting the unmatched lengths, said it worked out fine.)
