The first time I fired it up after replacing the main caps, I know I had the wiring wrong jumped in over my head.

I know you both covered the steps on a earlier thread in detail.

Please advise on diagnostic steps.

I copyed Glenn's picture and put original main cap's as shown, fired it up slow coming out of protection first time.

When I turned up the volume to maybe 10 o clock or 11 o clock would go back into protection.
I was using head phones did not hook up to speaker outputs ?? Ok ? or no?
Sound was distorted and scratchy stayed the same on am,fm,phono but silent on aux?

Thanks in advance I do appreciate any and all advice

If you put the main caps in backwards, it would NOT function at all...it'd simply blow fuses. So if it's basically working, but going into protect, sounds like the protection circuitry needs some attention.

Good to know no blow fuses does come out of protection, sound is distorted and scratchy.

I was using the headphone jack to test ? I did clean the protection relay.

I also sprayed the variable pots for I assume dc offset bias ? now if they were not completly dry woulnt that produce the distortion ?

sorry about spelling I know jack chit on using ispell so bare with me Tanks
