I got tired of looking at my dingy SL1700mk1, so I decided to paint the plinth. I did, gloss red. Somehow in the reassembly process I broke the strobe bulb. Will any 120v neon bulb work as a replacement? From what I gather it flashes due to the 60Hz power. I can't find a rplacement that looks like it, but Rat Shack has neon indicator lamps, might be able to disect one of those for the bulb. TT looks awsome in red BTW, six coats with color sanding in between, looks like a Porsche!!

Most likely the RS lamps will be fine. The differerent neon pilot lamps vary in brightness. The NE-2 is pretty standard but may be a bit dimmer than your original.

Thanks guys, will post some soon. Was really taken with the red Pro-Ject table, and had a can of red Duplicolor ceramic engine paint laying around, I had used for something else, and was amazed with the results. So I said what the heck, sanded the nicks out, sprayed it, it was beautiful except for a few dust specs. Color sanded those out, resprayed, sanded more, buffed with rubbing compound, then polishing compound, then a finishing polish, the end result is a VERY deep gloss.
