Thanks. MAXZ28 12-15-2008, 02:12 PM I've used Blue Magic which is an automotive metal polish with good results. First clean the faceplate with warm water and a mild detergent like hand soap or dish washing detergent. That alone should clean up the faceplate considerably and may be the only necessary cleaning technique. If it still looks hazy, then I would try the metal polish liberally being mindful of the lettering. Good luck! :thmbsp: el84 12-15-2008, 02:17 PM I will follow your instructions and post back when I have done so. Thank you. bolly 12-15-2008, 02:37 PM yep, I use soap and water, never had a problem on any of mine yet... 2220B, 2265, 2270, 2100, 2130, and an 18. johnnm 12-15-2008, 02:44 PM I've used Blue Magic which is an automotive metal polish with good results. Good luck! :thmbsp: ++ However one thing I noticed when I did this is that the Blue Magic definitely leaves behind a slippery residue. (Says it will do so right on the container, for protection on car wheels.) This caused my knobs which I polished to become to slippery for me. After using them for a while it pretty much went away. I wonder if the residue could've just been washed off with soap and water... EchoWars 12-15-2008, 03:07 PM Car wax. homebrew 12-15-2008, 03:08 PM ...after going the mild soap and water route. Rub carefully following the grain (left/right as you face the dial) of the front plate. I'm real careful around the lettering and numbers. Avoid the dial glass as it might scratch. Rinse thoroughly with warm water and dry with a soft towel. winters860 12-15-2008, 09:55 PM If nicotine's the culprit, nothing I've used works as well as Oxi-Clean. I'd try a warm water and dish detergent first, though, for ordinary grime. Also, you'll get a better result by taking off all the knobs and cleaning them one by one. Then you can remove the faceplate for a thorough, even cleaning. analogguyinadig 12-15-2008, 11:08 PM Windex. I've used it a countless number of times. It's brilliant. Stereofan 12-16-2008, 07:34 AM I strictly use Glass Plus which is a non-ammonia based cleaner on the entire faceplate. I follow it with Lifeguard Revitalizer & Protectant in a pump spray bottle on the brushed aluminum area only. Really makes it shine. Redtail 12-18-2008, 02:15 PM Does anyone know if the vinyl faceplate decals are being reproduced anywhere? I have a 2220 that is in need of a little sprucing up. pbda 12-18-2008, 02:58 PM Do be careful of the lettering...once gone it may be impossible to replace. |
