This week I have found a few re-launches and remakes
I didn’t know classicsansui.net (http://www.classicsansui.net/default.htm) was back on the air – it is a nice source of pictures and brochures on classic Sansui equipment.
Goodsound.com (http://www.goodsound.com) have re launched GoodSoundGuide (http://www.goodsound.com/guide/) with tips on choosing equipment and how to budget for equipment.
Danish speaker manufacturer Jamo have a cool online speaker placement guide (http://www.jamo.com/consumer/placementguide/).
Now for some scary stuff: The RIAA want your fingerprints (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2004/06/04/biometric_drm/) ? More here (http://www.thinkingmaterials.com/news-040119.html)
And for all you folks that missed out on some important horror films, you can now see The Exorcist (http://www.angryalien.com/0204/exorcistbunnies.html) or The Shining (http://www.angryalien.com/0204/exorcistbunnies.html) – all acted by bunnies in 30 seconds.
There is a Jazz Festival held at Darling Harbour ( http://www.darlingharbour.com/darlingharbour/content/events/eventdetail.cfm?EVENT_ID=100960&MONTH=JUNE%202004) this coming long weekend in Sydney Australia. It looks good and its free.
On the 11th of June there is a Blues Event (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19357) in the Chicago area.
Some cool upcoming new releases on 15 June are:
John Lee Hooker: Down Home Blues
Jazz Moods: Round Midnight - a jazz compilation featuring Thelonious Monk, Herbie Hancock and others
David Bowie: Diamond Dogs [30th Anniversary Edition]
The Allman Brothers Band: Stand Back: The Anthology is being reissued.
Also, some interesting threads:
Watch out for counterfeit (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19746) transistors.
Check out Kamakiri's cool railroad story (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=1802) also if you are a rail nut, this thread (http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=5845) is good.
