My wife and I are trying to teach our kids that giving is the right thing to do. We are going to be sponsoring families for the holidays. Soon we hope to be delivering a holiday meal and gifts to a local families in need via the Volunteers of America organization.

What I would also like to do is take all or part of this months subscriptions to Audiokarma and see how many more families we can help. So far I know we have enough to help at least one other family of four.

I know times are tough through out the nation and world wide. But if you can or want to help please contact me. It will be the greatest feeling in the world to help a family provide for themselves and their little ones through what should be a joyous time of the year. Thank you and have a safe and happy holidays.

Hey Dave,

Since I screwed up my auto-renew on my subscription, I think I'm subscribed through about 2045. Could we help out with a simple donation with a notation for "charity" or something?

Donations are more then welcome. Just please denote that your donation is for helping families for the holiday.

In the coming days I will try to keep everyone up to date on what we have taken in and how many families we will help.

Thank you to all who have donated all ready.

Grumpy,

It's a wonderful thing helping people and families. Especially during the holidays. We do our best to help. My daughter and her classmates sent care pakages to the troops. We're donating canned foods, a turkey, toys and warm clothes. Every little bit counts.

Best wishes and a warm joyous holiday to you all.

Hey Grump:

I tried to make my donation linking from the AK homepage "donations option" and Paypal gave me conflicting messages whether it went through or not: I'll try again later, but wanted to give you a heads-up in case others have a problem...

I can't give anything here, but I'll make one of our planned donations to several military families in AKs name, fair enough?

I have a 5 year old daughter. I have tried to instill in her a giving, caring attitude.
She called me last night crying about a story she saw on the news. It's freezing here in Portland and all the homeless people have very little. The news said to drop off donations at one of a few places. She wanted to take something down for them. So I went to pick her up today and she had one pair of gloves and a hat that she out grew. We made our way down town and handed the gloves over to the volunteer worker. The look on her face was one of pure pleasure and fulfillment. The look on my face must have been the same as the lady working said "you must be a proud dad to have a girl like this". She's already called me once since I dropped her off, she found more stuff to take down. So I guess what I'm saying is pass it on down the line early.....they get it. We will all be better off for taking the time. She gets it a lot more than I have given her credit for. I hope this wasn't too far off topic.

We always donate at Thanksgiving and Christmas to local programs providing food, and at Christmas we also take as many kids as we can off the "Angel Tree", a program where you are provided with an age, clothing sizes, and gender info as well as a "wish list", then return wrapped gifts that will be presented anonymously.

Helping out locally or globally is more important than ever this year - our group normally needs to provide for 6-8 families at Thanksgiving; This year the number was up to 15.

We have an Angel Tree at church too. This year we covered 85 kids. A sad state of affairs, but we do what we can.

Not off topic at all. A story like this goes a long way toward restoring my faith in the next generations. Thanks for sharing.

My wife has a regular customer who is the Rev of a large church locally. We are also trying to help one of their last angel tree families.

So far we have raised enough to help nearly 3 families.

All of our donations have to be in to the appropriate agencies by this Saturday . I will leave this thread up until This Friday. If anyone does not have paypal and wants to help just Email or message me the amount you are mailing. I will be happy to put in that amount with the kitty until your check arrives.

You all have the right to feel very special. Its because of you 3 families ( so far ) will have a wonderful holiday meal and gifts for the parents and children. These gifts include one piece of clothing and one toy.

For many years, I've supported the Dorcas Drake Christmas Party (now the Children's Christmas Party of Jacksonville) here locally, which helps indigent and homeless children have a little bit of light in the holiday season. If a child has no cause to smile on Christmas, the world is a meaner place. This year, it appears I will be home with none of my family around me, so I'm trying to finalize some support at one of the homeless shelters. Help where and when you can.

First United Methodist collects toys for the local kids (which there are many) who otherwise wouldn't get any. I try to give to that and contibute to the food bank every year.

I just got word on our first two adopted families. Would you folks like to know a little bit about them ? For obvious reasons I will not be sharing personal information but I can share some info.

We will be shopping for them and delivering their holiday packages personally to their houses. My kids are so excited and I am very happy to hear that they are excited to give.

You folks have been awesome so far. Because of you we are helping a single family mother who has nothing. By that I mean they have one bed and pretty much the clothes on their back. This mother had to leave an abusive relationship in a hurry. They have lived for the past 4-5 weeks without items such as clothes, towels, dishes. pretty much you name it and they don't have it. All her 11 year old son asked for was a wrestling figure. You can bet we will be providing that and much more !!!

I cannot say this too many times. Without your help this would not have been possible.

The best part is I think we will also be helping another single mother of 2. She is paralyzed on one side of her body. Her children do not even have beds.
If we all chip in just a little more I think we can make this happen.

You should all feel awesome and I mean that. Giving, if you can is one of the greatest feelings in the world. Thanks for you help

I just wanted to add to the restore the faith in the youth thought. One of my students told me about her Grandmothers Christmas gift to her was a large lot of items for her to be able to donate to help the needy. Some kids would say this with little enthusiasm, this young lady was so excited and moved by it that she got tears in her eyes telling me about it. She said it was her favorite gift and one that her Grandmother always does for her.

There are MANY great young people out in the world, they just don't seek attention like the rest of them do.

Donation sent in the name of AK here as well.

Thanks Grumpy.

My wife's office, which is a school district headquarters, has a program which my wife heads up every year where they donate clothing, food, gifts and cash for one needy family. Its always a tough chore picking only one, though. Her district regularly buys shoes and clothes on account for homeless kids. They also pick up kids who live under overpasses, and keep the cafeteria open during the summer for those kids whose only meal comes from the school lunch program.
My wife and I spend a lot of time and money on this event every year. What you are doing is a great thing,Dave.I think if we all contribute at the local level,we can make a lot of families feel a little joy at Christmas, and fill our own hearts with joy.

Im not so sure I can donate becuase I have no bank/creditcard/or anything like to my name.

But Id like to share a story about me helping others when I was in-need myself hence this site name "karma".

I once sold all my audio equipment when I was 18 to drive 350miles and help my now best friends family, there house was destroyed by a fire, and they had nothing left except for a few clothes and nicknacks, I paid for the move to a home where they could stay during the holidays, on Christmas Day we all put all our money together to have the biggest dinner we ever had, I also invited 8 kids from a local foster care to eat with us. That had to of been the best day seeing the smiles and laughter from everyone. As for the Karma my best friends dad bought me a john boat that sits on a lake 2yrs later.

During this next comeing Easter my wife and I plan to host/help a camping trip for some foster kids who dont have a home yet...hopfully it will brighten up there lives, and take there minds off things.

I hope everyone stays safe and just help those in need it will go a long ways to help this world become a better place.

Ya know, next year we oughta make this a challenge event say to the hangers-on at the Klipsch forums, or other venue with common interests?

We could see which forum can raise the most money for a good cause...

(Would that make us "Grumpy's kids" ? Would Grumpy have to post a video on YouTube seranading one and all to donate? )

Even more; somebody could do some Youtube videos at the next AKFest and with attending members and run them on Youtube, whatever, at this time next year, cajoling support for the cause.

Just a thought...

On a different note we have nearly finished the shopping for our two adopted families.
We purchased items such as a bed, bedding, and many other basic necessities. Not to mention tons of clothes and toys for little ones.

Without the help of you people we would not have been able to get half of this stuff.

If you would still like to donate please feel free up until tomorrow. There is still more items needed by these families. Thank you again.
