Perhaps someone has some ideas on this relatively easy hook up that for some reason does not seem to work.

I have the Onkyo 906 Receiver. I have a DBX 4BX range expander and an equalizer. I like to use these for my vinyl and tape. I have a DBX 400X program route selector that has my 4BX and equalizer hooked up into it. 400X is basically an audio switcher. I have the 400X program route selector into the tape input of the onkyo 906. I select TAPE from the 906 input selector and when I play tapes, no problem, I can apply the 4BX and the equalizer to the signal and modify the sound and it works great.

Now when I want to play a record, I select PHONO on the 906 and select the line input on the 400X program route selector. The signal is passed through the 4BX and the equalizer but I can't modify the sound. The record plays fine and the LEDS move on the 4BX and equalizer, but not modification of the sound. The Onkyo 906 doesnt have a record out selector like my old Yamaha did and I know it worked on the Yamaha.

Anyone have any suggestions??

I have the 400X program route selector into the tape input of the onkyo 906.What about the tape out of the onkyo? You need the tape out of the 906 to the line in on the 400x and of course the tape in of 906 to the line out of 400x.

I should of pointed that out. Yes thats how I have it...its driving me crazy...Ive had yamaha all my life - CR2040 and RXV2095. I venture into Onkyo which I like, but no record out switch like my Yamahas of past...hence my frustrations....
