Just aquired a MAC 4200 decent shape overal, no scratches or dents, all pots and switches are clean sounding and of course that sweet McIntosh classic sound. It is missing the feet and wooden side panels however. Can anyone recomend replacement part source? If not, could I bother someone to provide the dimenisons of the wood panels, I'm a rather intpt wood worker but thats never prevented me from jumping in over my head in the past.

Thanks, J

Audio Classics will have what you need: www.audioclassics.com
They are also a MAC dealer. Congratulations on your new purchase! I had the MAC 4100 for many years and enjoyed it very much. Welcome to the McIntosh forum and the McIntosh Club House!

Well Ive checked with Audio Classics and McIntosh directly, no luck on side panels. If I can get some dimenisions, Ill start the knuckle busting. Black walnut with an oil finish?

Thanks,

Is it the same size as a mac 4100? If so, I've got a full set of the top and side panels and feet that I could be talked out of or at least measure (I use mine in a cabinet).

That said, great reciever :)

Most generous sir. I certainly appreciate the offer, I will certainly take you up on the measurements certainly and if possible a few digital photos?

Should my DIY efforts collapse in abject failure, I may cajole, beg, or down right grovel.

Thanks, J

Sounds like a plan. Any word from those more knowledgeable about the Mac line as to whether the 4100 and 4200 are physically similar in size?

If so, photos are definitely not out of the question. That said, the most effective means of groveling would be to send your request written on a sticky note on the side of a new MDA1000. :D

The units are actually different in a couple of ways.

The MAC4100 has vinyl side and top panels. The MAC 4200 has only wooden side panels. So I suspect the MAC4200 side panels would be too tall - designed to exceed the height of the top vinyl panel.

The units are also of different depths - the MAC4100 is 13-1/2" deep and the MAC4200 is 14" deep. So, I'm not sure that the mounting screws will be in the same location, either.

The side panels for the MAC4200 are pretty straight-forward - just measure the side and make rectangular pieces 1/4" longer and taller than the unit measures. The mounting holes in the metal case should show you where to drill the side panels.

Black walnut with oil finish would be perfect!:thmbsp:

Sure, foil my plot to get an MDA1000 in exchange for some pictures. I see how it is. :p

Still, good to know, and thanks for the info :)

Many thanks, I'll roll up the sleeves then and give it a go. Photos forthcoming when complete. I'll be back in lurk mode now.

Newportcycle.......I have a MAC4300V. Side panels measure 13 3/4" x 5 3/16" x 3/4" with a shallow dado groove at the front edge which is 5/16" x 1/8". See photos.
Hope this might help you.

Dan,
Exceptional photos, thanks. I'll be working on the side panels this weekend. Ive sourced the replacement feet directly from McIntosh, should be here end of next week. Thanks for all the assistance. I'll post a few photos when completed.
