View Full Version : Did you know this? Leadfoot 12-30-2008, 10:16 AM I ran across this while looking at some music videos. (http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x3tycj_marty-robbins-dont-worry_music) ablethevoice 12-30-2008, 10:37 AM Well, as usual the video won't load on a dialup. What is it about Marty Robbins that was surprising? Leadfoot 12-30-2008, 11:00 AM When Marty Robbins was recording his 1961 hit "Don't Worry", session guitarist Grady Martin accidentally created a fuzz effect[3] during the session. This came about because of a faulty channel in the console where Martin's guitar was plugged in. The effect was left in the recording and this is rumored to be the birth of the fuzz guitar. The song made position 1 one on the country charts and position 3 on the pop charts . Others followed to recreate this effect in the psychedelic scene ect. ablethevoice 12-30-2008, 11:08 AM Ahhh! Interesting. Sorry to be a PITA, but my stupid ISP can't seem to provide us with anything besides a 31.2K connection. Leadfoot 12-30-2008, 11:19 AM Ahhh! Interesting. Thanks for finding & posting it! nashvillebill 12-30-2008, 01:44 PM Link Wray's "Rumble" from 1958 predates this. And one of the first "fuzz distortion" guitar recordings is claimed to be "Rocket 88' by Ike Turner, in 1951, according to Wikipedia.... similost 12-30-2008, 01:56 PM Interesting though.. they said the buzz was in the bass guitar in the setup, funky looking bass.. :\ |
