Ran across this page a few weeks ago and it looks like some thing fun! Uses a small tube mainly for vertical output stage of a TV set, has two parts, a preamp stage and a amp.
The page was put together by Fred Nachbaur and he has several projects on his page. He passed on a few years ago and someone is keeping up the site although some links are not working. Here is the link...

I have started on this project already and finished the power supply and it works just as it should! Output so far is 265 volts DC with no load and I also lit the heater of the tube with the 12.6 volts AC. I have about 6 dollars in parts I had to buy and scrounged the rest. There a link to a PP amp that I might try later and there is at least one for a preamp.
Good use for this tube and good for learning! :thmbsp:

That looks like a great project, and very affordable. I'll be looking forward to hearing what you think of the sound. I never throw out TV tubes, just for this reason. It seems like someone always finds something to do with them. Keep us posted on your progress.:thmbsp:
