(I originally posted this in the turntable thread and then realized I should have put it here.)
I bought what I thought was a pristine copy of The Present by the Moody Blues.
Got it home and gave it the mandatory wash and let it dry.
I put it on and something was really odd about it.
It sounded like my Technics has sea sickness, my heart sank, could it be my new toy had developed some sort of problem.
I looked at the speed and it was rock steady as always, then I glanced at the tone arm and OMG I couldn't believe my eyes.
It was swaying back and forth like a drunken sailor staggering out of a bar, how it actually stayed in the groove was beyond me.
I quickly lifted it off the record.
The record on side one only had been pressed off center and I mean completely off center.
If I look at the label the end track has half the gap on the closest part and twice the gap on the opposite side.
Has anyone else experienced this before?
It's only on side one, side two is perfect.
