??

Blasphemy!

lol
He was the original guitar player in The Stooges.
As a matter fact #29 best guitarist on some Rolling Stone list.

Level-headed dude, especially in comparison with Iggy Pop.

His fat, distorted guitar licks will live on forever.

Sad news regarding this son of Michigan. Yes, rest in peace, Ron.

I saw him with Destroy All Monsters about 10 years ago.

No worries Axcel...my indignation was a put-on...lol
But still a sad day for us fans of loud distorted guitars!

The Stooges changed the way I heard rock music altogether (the first three albums, anyway). Asheton's guitar work was incendiary, esp. on Funhouse. Man, that album kicks so much ass.

He will be missed.

Growing up isolated in the Metropolitan NY arrea in the 70's, I managed to avoid hearing anything cool like the Stooges till I went to college. After hearing "1969" my eyes and ears were opened, and I have been a Stooges fan ever since.

Whilst I was unable to see them on their reunion tour, i picked up an audio copy of their Coachella show (with Mike Watt on bass). All killer, no filler...

:sigh:

Living in the Northern Suburbs of Detroit, I grew up and still listen to: Stooges, MC5, Third Power, Savage Grace et al....Ron's driving guitar riffs almost came out of the speakers. While I saw the tapes of the Stooges reunion, I just couldn't make myself see and hear the new when I have the old etched in my memory. I first saw Iggy in 1969 in a concert with the MC5 and the UP - I'll always remember....
