Just how ridiculous can a person get

MADONNA says she is to shed her raunchy image and adopt the HEBREW name of ESTHER.

Speaking on an interview on ABC News, the 'Like A Virgin' star revealed she will take on the name of the Biblical queen which she identifies with through her study of Jewish mysticism Kabbalah, reports Reuters.

Born Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone, and named after her mother, the Catholic-bred singer was quick to point out that her new name is not a snub to her roots.

"I wanted to attach myself to another name," she said during the interview on Thursday (June 10). "This is in no way a negation of who my mother is. ... I wanted to attach myself to the energy of a different name."

"I did spend, you know, at least a decade taking my clothes off and being photographed, saying bad words on TV, and, you know, that sort of thing," she explained. "I don't regret it, but it's just ... I mean everybody takes their clothes off now. And then what? You know? And - and then what?"

She was also keen to assure that Kabbalah is not a fad. "I'm a little bit irritated that people think that it's like some celebrity bandwagon that I've jumped on," she said. "I'm very serious about it."

I guess thats show biz. When I used to hang with the "theater crowd" these aberrations seemed quite normal.
In Madonnas case, I believe she's nothing but a shrewd business person.:smoke:

Gimme an effing break. I guess next, she's gonna be "The Artiste Formerly Known as Madonna, now known as Esther." But hey-she's generated a bazillion bux over the last 25 yrs- must be doing somethin' right !I read somewhere that you cannot properly study the Kaballa & remain sane, so if we assume Madonna's already one brick shy of a load, maybe this will straighten her out. Doubtful, though. -Sandy G.

What she didn't reveal was her newly adopted first name will be "Polly".
Henceforth, she will be refered to as Polly-Esther !

Replace the "b" w/a "c" & you'd have it about right. -Sandy G.
