Howzit going guy? This is a NON E-Wave and JBL speaker thread, for a little change of pace. :D

So what music do you like to listen too and what music is most revealing?

...and btw, what's up with the action figures?

:)

Maybe you should post in speakers that there's a post not in speakers requiring his attention. Good for the post count.

Where AM I? :dazedandconfused:

Somebody let me outta the cage, did they? :nutz:

Eclectic, really.

Test stuff:

Patricia Barber - extreme female vocals, acoustic bass, percussive detail

Dzihan & Kamien - LF delivery w/o IM distortion; it's up 10 dB sometimes

Peter Gabriel - male vocals, subsonics

Dave Grusin - jazz clarity

Roger Waters - transients, Q-sound; phase gotta be right for that to work optimally

Little Feat, Pink Floyd, Béla Fleck (recently), Fleetwood Mac (imaging), Chico Science - the gamut.

That's a pretty solid list there Zilch...:thmbsp:Thank you, Cableguy. Music plays virtually all day here on whatever's presently under development alt Indignias (of late).

Anyone checking the time stamps on the curves I post will likely find the really serious testing occurring after midnight, when there's only an occasional train several blocks away intruding upon the measurement process....

Good to see you get out for a change!

Patricia Barber that's who I was trying to remember. Thanks!

I acutally have a similar action figure I found while fishing. :D

Roger Waters, well that does it. You're OK despite what I've been told. Anyone that would listen to him, PF, and Fleetwood Mac can't be a bad guy. :D

Zilch, my post was simply an observation on the futility of Carl's forum choice for this thread :D ... no adverse commentary on your posting habits intended. :music:

MY question is, what do you listen to, when you pack away the test gear and shut down the lab? What moves you, beyond 'data'?

dnewma04

Most of us measuring types love music as much as anyone, hence the passion to learn as much as we can. Without music, we'd be doing something else with our time.

See. that's where Zilchy being semi-local to you is a good thing. He can interpret the graphs and you can confirm or deny the interpretation. Or, if you point out something bad, he can probably show you what's going on.

He has taken the time to do all that. I'm verrry slow, that's why I'm an artist and draw pictures. :D

Exellent! I was jamming some Tab Benoit earlier and Keb' Mo' yesterday. If you're looking for a great disc that you can test with or just sit back and listen to, try George Faber - Blues (http://www.musicdirect.com/product/74713). It's produced by Geoff Poor (owner of Glenn Poor's Audio Video in Champaign, IL and a principle of Balanced Audio Technologies) and mastered by Bob Katz (as good as they get). It's recorded live-in-studio and the band is tight. There is almost no compression at all and the sound is amazing. Best of all, the music is outstanding. I run through it every few days.

So what blues you spinnin', Z?

Ray

Maximum.Yeah, that.

[I know it when I hear it. ;) ]

So what blues you spinnin', Z?Not so much lately, Ray, but Keb' Mo' is here, Muddy Waters, don't much like BB King, do like Ry Cooder, Sonny Landreth. Legacy stuff, too; Down Home Music is just down the street:

It ain't just that. Dire Straits, U2, Michael Hedges, and a bunch of other guitar, Allman Bros, Subdudes, G Love, Big Head Todd....

for a little psychedelic/swamp rock sound with a real blues soul. These dudes are the real deal, and sound even better live than they do on disc (unlike so many talentless studio-heros you hear today, they can actually play a whole song w/ out it needing to have the good bits edited together and the bad bits chopped out) they played the KGSR tea party here in Austin w/ Carolyn Wonderland opening (now there's a blues queen, sho nuff!!!) a couple of years ago, and I can't remember the last time I saw a more exciting, guitartastic blues/rockin show!

here is a video of them recording:
