Hey folks I'm in the process of building a music server and have found that the Windows Media player inadequate for keeping track of all the music I have and present it in a easy to use fashion. I would be interested in seeing what other free or cheap jukebox type software you guys and gals are using.

Oh, i'm running Windows XP Pro SP3.

Thanks
Steve

I don't use windows anymore but I used to use Winamp, it did the job pretty well though the media library wasn't the best in terms of organization and ease of use. The normal version is freeware http://www.winamp.com/

There are probably some really good open source players available too.

See here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_player_(application_software)

EDIT: I've heard lots of good things about Foobar2000 http://www.foobar2000.org/

I use gmusicbrowser on linux with an mplayer backend. Easily the best media library every made. Fully customizable window layouts and its made to handle enormous >10,000 song libraries without slowdown even on slow computers. With a little bit of work you can get it running on windows, but I've never tried.

And of course, its open source:smoke:
