Am up in Atlanta this weekend and had the Daughter run me to a few local SA's and GW's. The first one we hit had a good collection of old vinyl. Went through the stuff on the wall and then sat down on the floor to go through the boxes of stuff on the floor that were in plastic boxes. Must have been 10 or 15 boxes with records stacked against them on the out side also. Found a few that were in good condition... And I mean a few... The last box was not the same run of the mill plastic box, but a wooden crate type box.. O.K. grab a hand full and start to look at em... GOOD CONDITION.... WELL TAKEN CARE OFF... O.K. sample a little ways back in the box... SAME CONDITION... Then I realize that it was someones complete record collection... Some FLEETWOOD MAC. SANTANA, JIM CROCE, LITTLE FEAT, THE CARS, EBERHARD SCHOENER, BLACK SABBATH, BRAND X, HUNTER & COLLECTORS, WISHBONE ASH, IRON BUTTERFLY and some groups I had not heard of. Got to counting the few I found first and the ones in the box... 101 albums... Asking $1.50 and I got them to sell for $1.00 each... Must have been the drool running from my mouth as they would not go lower..... so reach for the plastic.... Will take home on Sunday... If wife does not kill me first...
HELP ME I CAN NOT CONTOL MY ADDICTION......

I usually stop daily to a couple of thrifts in hope of some vinyl. It seems to be getting harder to find. I just can't seem to pass by a decent set of speakers either, around 100 pair now. I don't think there is any cure, other than financial ruin or absolute lack of space I doubt anything will stop my addiction. Finally got my garage built. now I can empty the bedroom and actually get to my side of the bed...

No one can help you here. Everybody suffers from the same affliction.
At least I am in good company then:)
Hit a SA and they had screened the vinyl and had picked out the GOOD ones. They were priced at $6.00 and up!!!!! Had a TINNY TIM album priced at $12.00!!! Now I feel good about my $1.00 per score:)

Just PRAY you don't develop an unnatural longing for old radios & TVs, too....<grin> -Sandy G.
Went back for one last look at the SA where I found the big load and the guy remembered me. He said they had 4 or 5 more boxes of records in the back that I cold look at... Spent the next hour looking... Found another 15 ablums in verry good condition... Linda Ronstandt, James Taylor, Billy Joel, one BEACH BOYS ablbum in pretty good condition.... and others.. Now I guess I whill have to get back home and start catagorizing them into a data base so I know what I have...:)

I am sort of getting hooked myself. I think its all the "great score" threads and a bit of jealousy...drool drool. I was at 3 different GW's and 1 SA today. I did see a very cool familiar Sony portable cassette recorder. Remember, the ones with the shoulder strap and line out jacks and two meters and aluminum? It was minty conditio!! I resisted buying it cause I already have two tape decks but that thing won't be there for long.
I have to go back to SA on monday and check out their 600 or so lp's. The biggest lp selection I've seen at a thrift yet. I could'nt check them out today because the clerk was busy re-organizing that section. Kind of pissed me off. Is that a sign of addiction? lol
