So I looked at the CSD-06060A. It's in a TO-220 case. What do you do with the metal tab? Is it used as a heat sink? Is it safe if it touches the chassis? Darn those aren't cheap for a diode. I asked him to see if they have them, but I think his department does more LED lighting type stuff. I can hope. John

You "could" mount that tab to a sink, and that's exactly why it's there, but we don't run them hard enough to worry about it. They just barely warm up in normal stereo use. Not cheap, but worth every penny me thinks.:yes:

Get a couple of the MC-E emitters if you can. They're probably useless for audio, but awesome for flashlights (my other hobby).

No. These kinds of diodes don't emit enough infrared light to project any appreciable heat. You need an incandescent lamp (good old fashioned tungsten filament) to start fires.

I think this thread is about solid state (Cree) diodes which can be used for power supply rectification. Fast recovery diodes are desirable to reduce the high frequency hash than can occur with the cheaper stuff. I drifted off topic a bit with the light emitting diode (LED) chatter. Sorry about that...

Hash in a tube amp smells bad.

Use a dryer sheet to hide the smell.
