Here's one for you all. I own FOUR Cerwin Vega D-9'S and of course my Infinity Crescendo 3008's. Notoriously, the plastic tweets in the D-9's are harsh and fatiguing. I am blown away by the Emits....sooo....I am bidding on three Emits on Ebay right now. I want to fit them into my D-9's.....

Would there be any compatibility problems with this change do you think?

I run my 3008's with an Onkyo M504....and the CV'S thru an Onkyo M508....with Onkyo EQ35's in the chain on both amps. Right now I dial down the treble on the CV's and let those beautiful mids and 15 inch bass work under the mids and highs on the 3008's. Strictly two channel for my music. It's truly awe-inspiring if I do say so myself!!

Just note that all the Infinities with EMIT-Rs have a 1.5A thermal circuit breaker in line to keep from frying them if an amp starts clipping.

As far as dropping them in without any change to crossovers, I haven't a clue.

You will need to make some changes to the crossover - I am sure the impedance is different as is the response curve. You may want to just build a small high pass crossover (with the thermal fuse) for the tweeter and piggyback it.

emit r can play low frequencies.

you need a good midrange to play until 4khz at least.

if you just replace them you will fry them.

What makes you say the emits will fry? If they'll play low frequencies I'd be willing to bet that the crossover setup as-is would be at least 2.5Khz

Just keep in mind that putting a 2 or 4 ohm tweeter on a crossover designed for an 8 ohm tweeter will change the crossover point significantly. Also because of the inefficiency of the EMIT relative to the CV's you may need to attenuate the lower frequency drivers.

I do not have experience with the EMIT R, but I do with the regular EMIT. I know mods would need to be done to integrate an EMIT properly into any other system.

no they aren`t.

my previous speakers with emit-r have crossover point 4khz.

playing active i tried to go lower and i fried a couple.
