those are the infinitesimal 0.1's or 0.2's. in that shape i'd guess they'll hit $250 at least. quite a bit for a small bookshelf, eh?

Nice looking little speakers. Too bad they are in such bad shape. I wouldn't pay $250 for them, but I'm sure that people who collect speakers will. Hopefully, someone will put some work into them.

Have you heard a pair? :thmbsp::thmbsp::thmbsp: $250 is on the low side. Mine were $300 in nice condition. I would like to see them without the grills but look like a little sanding and linseed oil is all they need.

yep. what's most important is that the grills are nice, the logos are there, the trim pieces are there, and they are working. i hope to hear a pair sometime.

so is the round inset on the top a place where a bracket would attach so it could be wall mounted?

yep. the one is missing, but if the wood has the thread and the metal piece is just a cap, then they'd be mountable as-is.

There is actually no thread either in the wood or in the metal cap, at least not on my 0.2's. The brackets that were sold as an option as illustrated in the attached jpg, must have had threads in the arms into which the knurled knobs were screwed but I'm pretty sure they did not actually screw into the speakers but instead just held them in place. The brackets may have had a clamping action that held the speakers in the proper attitude.

I wonder if anyone still has a set of these mounting brackets.

I don't have the brackets but on my 0.1's there is a threaded insert in the oak, the black piece that is visible is like a washer that hides the insert.

That would make more sense based on the design of the bracket but there is no evidence of any missing threaded insert on either of my 0.2's as the holes in the wood are the same size as the hole in the washer and there are no thread marks in the wood.

Since the speaker illustrated in the attachment I posted is likely a 0.1, having no screws in the trim pieces that hold the grills in place while the 0.2's, like the one's in the eBay listing, have three screws in each, maybe Infinity dropped the mounting bracket as an option and eliminated the insert's with the 0.2's but didn't bother redesigning the end caps without the hole and washer.

The brackets were offered as an option given that "This speaker was designed to deliver Infinity quality sound whether it plays in your home or car or boat or van", and that the bracket kit "simplifies horizontal or vertical installation in any vehicle - even out of sight in your car's trunk" according to the brochure from which I borrowed the illustration. Kind of bizarre to think that someone might have bought a set of these with the express intention of mounting them in the trunk of their car.

No, I have never heard them, but I assume that they sound excellent, since Infinity models with Emits are very good speakers; and other than a few models such as the headbanging SM Series, Infinity generally produces high quality speakers.

I would pay $300 for a pair that was in good shape. In fact, I am currently looking for a nice set of small speakers, and $300 is in the range that I am willing to pay. If those speakers were in good condition, I would consider them. I'm just not into doing repair work. I only buy speakers that are in good shape, and look like they weren't mistreated.

I love music and while I have owned a variety of speakers over the years, I am not a speaker collector. If I am not using a set of speakers, I sell them.

Looking at that little speaker, it makes me wonder how it got that way. I don't understand how some people abuse their gear. My own stuff looks the same as the day I bought it. Some people love to repair gear; I think that's great and I give thanks to those that bring older and abused speakers back to life again, so that plain ole listeners, such as myself, can enjoy them again.

Are you going to bid on these? If not I would love to.

These are PERFECT for my center channel quest for an EMIT timbre matching setup!

If you are not bidding on them, can you post a link to the auction? Maybe it's too late.

i'm not going to bid on them at the moment i need a shielded center as i have a big honking sony tube tv

Thanks.

They sold for $260! Wow. I can see that getting an EMIT matched center is going to be a bit more expensive than I had thought.
