Going through the few LP's at a GW today I ran across a copy of Eric Claptons Slowhand Now I have a real nice copy but this one was a gatefold jacket like I had never seen so I pull it up and notice that it is way to fat. When I look in it it is obvious someone has wrapped another LP up in tissue paper and shoved it in the jacket beside the Slowhand disc.

I pull it out it's Eric Clapton E.C. Was Here but in not such great shape and the Slow hand disc was also marked up so I passed.

I go around the other side of the display and after waiting for a 20 something to move to another slot in the rack I find the Jacket for the E.C. Was Here. but theres a disc in it already.

I drop the disc out and about shit my pants.

John Lee Hooker "The Blues" on Crown Records Long Playing 33 1/3 High Fidelity HIS FIRST ALBUM First pressing.

IN very playable condition track 2 side to is most likely going to have a repeating tick for about half the song but that looks to be the only thing that will be audible.

Popsike only had one listing for the LP (of course with the jacket) selling for $128.00 at auction on eBay.

I'll find myself the art work on line somewhere print out a slick and glue it to a white replacement Jacket and have me a damn nice Blue LP for $1.99

Call me happy.

If that's your first John Lee Hooker LP then it's 1 down and 70 or so to go! Wow! Very cool score. I've been to a dozen thrifts around here and find almost no blues or jazz in any condition, but I keep looking.

You're not finding them because you're looking in the wrong places. You need to look inside all the Eric Clapton jackets! :D

Mark W, great story there, and congratulations on a GREAT find! Too bad the cover wasn't there, but the disc itself is, of course, the important part. Enjoy that JLH! :music:

I found a whole stack of what looked like good LPs and LDs the other day on a street market, and started picking some out. Unfortunately, when I came to the stage of checking the condition of the discs, I discovered that NOT ONE of the discs inside matched the cover it was in. Unfortunately, the discs were almost all rubbish; not a rare John Lee Hooker among them!
