Just have to say I was so happy to see Robert Plant and Allison Krauss win 3 Grammys last night. It gives me hope that todays music isn't all about rap and hip hop and top 40 radio. Some of the collaborations you see at the Grammy Awards show really are fabulous. However sticking Stevie Wonder with the Jonas Brothers seemed like a bad idea to me.

Mike,
I did not watch the Grammy's. If I ever watched it was years ago. The reason I probably don't is the rap and hip/hop. I managed to see Plant/Krauss on some HD channel several times and I thought the music was pretty good. A strange twosome but it worked!

I stopped watching the Grammys in 1977 when instead of giving the grammy for best new group to "Boston", it went to the "Starland Vocal Band" for "Afternoon Delight".:puke::puke::puke:

As you can see, I can hold a grudge!:D

SVB is weak for sure, but, Boston is not much better. Yeah it was great then, but now, it just seems kinda tired.

Are you referring to the Kraus/Plant album? I thought the songs were pretty good.

Great album. Best of the year? Who knows.

I thought my 14 year old son was going to burst a vessel when they won: "Who the heck is Robert Plant?".

Old farts rule! :thmbsp:

Hey, what do I know? I love the gal, but I think she's done better with other artists. I'm just glad she received an award.

Ditto on the old farts rule. I guess that's why Plant was included.

Yup... individually there are a handful of good songs, but as a whole the album just kinda goes on.

And do you remember when Jethro Tull won for Best Hard Rock/Metal performance? That's about the time I stopped watching the Grammy's.

How about in 1980 when Cristopher Cross won best Album over Pink Floyds The WALL after 15 weeks at number one on the charts. They only got best technical album or some silly crap for what was easily the best album of 1980,

I am kinda in this group. Plant was king in Zep, and Krauss is a a HUGE talent. I don't think the album, or the songs, are as good as what they have done before.
But, I am not a musician, or have any talent whatsoever musically. So my hat's off to these two gifted performers.

Reasons why "Raising Sand" might* have over achieved:

1) Led Zep never got a Grammy.

2) T Bone Burnett has taken on a "god-like" aura in the industry in the last few years (since "O Brother"), and this is really his album, with contract vocalists.

* And I MEAN "might".

Mark, I agree with you. But that was after Boston and SVB fiasco, so I wasn't watching then!:D
