Got room to the bench now that a second 1009 is now in the sleeping quarters. Over the years the automatic portion on the Duals I worked on have been trouble free. Keep a decent idler and you are ready to go. The problem on this one is the arm wont return at the end of the record. It will cycle and drop on the record though I dont do this with my LPs. Looking under the back of the arm I noticed a 1/2 in vertical shaft was binding up keeping the arm from returning. It will return if the arm is half way across the record. The shaft is linked to the lever that determines record size. I very carefully moves the shaft up a bit and the arm now returns at the end of the record, but at the start it now does not land at the beginning of the record and goes to the end of the LP. Personally I would rather have it return at the end and set the arm down manually. So I left it this way. It was a good time to stop as I will also need to clean and lube the motor. Any ideas as to the cause.

Its going to go in a Sony compact that has a 1214 in it. Figured it would make a neet upgrade. May relist the 1214 to get some $$$ back on the Sony.Any suggestion would be great. Thanks

First, going into the Sony, you will have to remove the metal strap that the RCA's are connected to - won't fit with them. Might have to solder the patch cables directly to the muting switch, which is fine.

Now, you are absolutely on track as far as the cam gear lever adjustment. Play with it - you'll get it adjusted so both functions work.
