Okay, I tried posting this in the Marantz and general SS forum and got about two replies so hopefully things will fare better around here.

My current set up is this, Marantz 1060 powering a pair of Paradigm Titans and a BIC 1000 TT.

About a month ago, I noticed this slight intermittent static coming though my speakers. It never lasted a long time and would be hidden once I played a record. I thought it could be some outside signal like my wireless internet or something else in the apartment building. No biggie, it wasn't permanent and easily hidden.

Last week, I noticed this noise became even more persistent. Its a low volume, intermittent, scratchy static that was like some sort of distorted morse code. It didn't get louder as I played with the volume and it was present on all other inputs. Again, it was easily masked, but when it came to acoustic music I heard it and it was quite distracting.

I was recording some music to cassette and when I listened to the tape, the static was not there. The reason this is, I have no idea. Maybe the tape just didn't pick it up but everything sounded fine for a cassette.

About five minutes ago I swapped tables and the static disappeared. So, what I thought was maybe a bad capacitor in the Marantz now looks like something wrong with my TT. I've grown to enjoy the BIC and really don't want to go back to my old clunker Technics p-mount.

Can anyone here shed some light on this?
