ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 06:39 PM I have these guys in heavy rotation here:
2004 Hot Fuss
2006 Sam's Town
2007 Sawdust
I am going to pick up the new one over the weekend. Hope to catch these guys live this summer. I see they are hitting some of the festivals.
Big power pop sound, for you 70's classic rock guys.
Check them out. Best played loud.
ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 06:57 PM Where the white boys dance. What a powerful guitar riff. Then that weird voice mail.
Zeromancer 02-10-2009, 07:00 PM I like them but not really feeling their new album - Day and Age.
It sounds like a failed attempt to sounding like a Keane album.
But I do rock out Hot Fuss album alot.
ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 07:19 PM A cover of the Kenny Rodgers song. Ruby. Amazing, LOL.
ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 07:20 PM I like them but not really feeling their new album - Day and Age.

I am going to get it. I like these guys.
Cool_Manchu 02-10-2009, 07:22 PM Do you have the limited edition 7" box set?
Also, I would have to say Indie Rock and Roll is my favorite by them...
ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 07:28 PM And a Dire Straights cover! Think I spelled that wrong. My apologies.

No these are the redbook CD's.
ScramMan2 02-10-2009, 07:30 PM I love B sides, used to be a DJ back in the 60/70's. (AM/FM radio, not those wedding clowns)
ScramMan2 02-11-2009, 07:41 PM Heavy rotation. No takers? You guys are missing something.
slow_jazz 02-11-2009, 08:20 PM I own Sam's Town and it is really mastered loud and takes away from the songs.

I like Sawdust , but never got into day&age at all ? I gotta say that I am bit of a geezer , well a lot of a geezer , but sawdust is cool , all over the place including the cover of "ruby " :thmbsp:
jimdandy 02-11-2009, 11:39 PM I don't own any Killers, but have liked what I've heard -- off of Sam's Town. What would you suggest to be a first purchase?
Drybasement 02-12-2009, 09:38 AM I bought Hot Fuss when it was first released and that album really grew on me. Pretty cool music. When Sam's Town was released I bought it without hesitation and I must say that album was a bit of let down. Not nearly as good as Hot Fuss so I've been a little hesitant to buy the next album, Sawdust. One of these days I might buy it but there's been so many others that I've wanted first that it gets buried in the list. Ideally, I'd like to hear a trial copy first as thirty second sound bites just don't cut it for me.

Hot Fuss > Sawdust > Sam's Town > Day and Age
IMO
Zeromancer 02-12-2009, 10:08 AM If you like the Killers then you guys should check out a band called The Gaslight Anthem
The singer's voice reminds me of the singer from The Killers

Either Sams Town or Sawdust.
Jon_Logan 02-12-2009, 11:03 AM I like the Killers, but I don't admit it too often. They are kind of a guilty pleasure. Don't take this wrong, but they remind me of Sparks ( I like Sparks)
ScramMan2 02-12-2009, 03:54 PM I remember Sparks.

I'm going to drink a Sparks after I get off from work :smoke::D
grillebilly 02-12-2009, 09:10 PM The vocalist just kills it for me.
Music is OK, until his mouth opens.

I did. Good sound, but the vocals have a punkish feel to them? I'll give it a few more listens.
Sam Cogley 02-22-2009, 01:08 AM Either Sams Town or Sawdust.
I'm pretty fond of their debut album "Hot Fuss." I need to pick up "Sawdust."
Duffinator 02-22-2009, 01:16 AM I have Hot Fuss and it rocks, the whole album is solid. But I have not ventured out with any of their other releases and I'm not sure why. Maybe I'll pick up Sam's Town.

Yeah they are kinda punkish but I dig em.

I was trying to think of who Gaslight Anthem sounds like .. Rhett Miller from the Old 97's and his solo stuff. Check them out sometime. Both solo, and with the group.
GA is playing in Milwaukee soon, not sure it's on a night where I could catch the show or not.
NeedForSpeed 02-23-2009, 06:50 PM My significant other is a big fan(Even at her age), And will admit, They are very good song writers, And pretty decent musicians. Whenever her friends are over, These guys get air time.
ScramMan2 02-23-2009, 08:03 PM Love that sound!
ScramMan2 03-15-2009, 09:00 PM Got NO Fuss beating a hole in my head tonight!
OLDisGOLD 03-15-2009, 11:15 PM I love B sides, used to be a DJ back in the 60/70's. (AM/FM radio, not those wedding clowns)
Hey ..................... I was one of those "wedding clowns" for 25 years. Started out doing high school dances in the late '60's just before I graduated in '70. I worked for 31 years in TV & have a good audio background. Lot's of friends in the TV & Radio biz too. Having been married twice, I hired 2 local jocks to do my wedding gigs. Peter C. Cavanaugh & Gary Ballard, 2 prominent Flint, MI disc jockeys.

Sorry, don't take it personally. If you worked in radio back in the 60's you know there weren't any DJ's other than guys that spun tunes on the air.
Guess my luck with DJ's hasn't been as good as yours. I prefer a band. We had a regional bluegrass band at my daughters wedding last summer. I wanted to book a national touring act but my wife didn't want to spring for it. When the band took a break we played songs from my daughters iPod over the groups PA system. Can't beat that.

I was just messin' with you & I totally agree nowadays, DJ's & DJ services are a dime-a-dozen. I started when there were only true radio station jocks doing them. The local jocks accepted me & I was every bit as good as some of them, but chose the production side of TV over radio & I DJ'd on the side. I had & still have several friends in the Radio & TV business & still work in TV myself.
JohnVF 03-16-2009, 10:31 PM I'm a big fan of Hot Fuss though they're kind of a guilty pleasure. I have been meaning to check out what they've been up to since. The line "i've got soul but I'm not a soldier" has got to be one of the dumbest/catchiest things ever. I heard something off of the new album that I really like, so I'll probably pick it up.

Huge Red Wings & NHL fan ............ followed by The Pistons, Tigers & Michigan football / MSU football. NFL & last & least the Lions. I'd almost rather watch just about anything sports, other than golf & soccer.
ScramMan2 03-23-2009, 07:51 PM Killers 3 CD Brick.
Anyone have this .. what is it?

Think I MAY be going to see them on Thursday night in Milwaukee. The only stuff I have from them is The 59 Sound.
Is that typical of what they sound like live?
ScramMan2 04-05-2009, 02:44 PM Killers 3 CD Brick.
Anyone have this .. what is it?
Talking to myself again!
The "brick" is a bundle of,
2004 Hot Fuss
2006 Sam's Town
2007 Sawdust
With a dual sided poster suitable for framing in your Tune Room. All in a black sleeve, released in 2008.
I bought it used. Mine looks like it has not been played before, no finger prints on the jewel cases, and the printed inserts look like they have never been opened.
A great intoduction to their first thee CD's for you "Killer" newbies.
