My little town put on a nice display. This is small so as not to hog too much bandwidth, and I'm on dial-up.. Celt 07-05-2004, 04:05 PM I didn't get to see ours this year. Paragould usually puts on a nice hour-long show, but I had to be elsewhere. :( TRC 07-06-2004, 12:44 AM Hey check this out. CELT in NE Arkansas.. jasoncauthron in NC Arkansas.. and me.. Im in NW Arkansas. Jason.. I see youre a new member. Welcome to the board :) I love photographing fireworks. To me, its creating a work of art. I used 2 camera's this year.. The SLR, and the digital. The photo that follows, I took with the digital. I cant wait to get the others developed.. they should be AWSOME! With digital, (IMHO..) you just cant be creative as you can with an SLR. I use SLR's for the serious stuff. Those photo's wont be ready for a little while yet.. I only use digital for email and convenience shots. TRC jasoncauthron 07-06-2004, 12:54 PM Thanks, TRC, and nice picture, BTW! I went to UofA and lived in Fayetteville for a couple of years after I graduated. Then got married and lived in Springdale for a few years before moving back to my hometown, Paris, which is just south of I-40 and east of Ft. Smith. I became interested in photography in H.S. I had the old full-manual Pentax K-1000 and used Canon SLR's in school in photo club. I bought my first digital camera (Canon G2) a couple of years ago, and I really don't miss film at all. I DO miss an SLR.... I've found that the G2 will really grab some nice images if you have time to shoot them... But it's WAY slow compared to a good SLR. The hit-or-miss auto focus and the slow ISO film speed (if you want low noise) further complicate shots with any kind of action. Like many other people, I'm seriously considering the EOS Digital Rebel. Or a 10D. I should wait though.... Fireworks pictures are fun. I took about 50 shots during the hour-or-so display. The main problem was that they rarely shot more than two at a time, so most of my pics are single bursts. I used the G2 set at ISO 50, mostly stopped down to f6.3-8.0, and shutter speeds from 4.5 to 15 seconds. I didn't want to blow-out the colors, so I put a polarizing filter on, to darken it up a bit. Here's another one I thought was nice: TRC 07-07-2004, 12:43 AM I really like the effect you got with that shot. Pretty sweet. I cant wait until I get my good shots back.. Well.. what I call "good" shots.. lol. multi-ex w/ black card. I used ASA 200 (couldnt find anything lower..), at f18, 10 - 20 sec. Man.. if these turn out like I hope they will, they're going to be awsome! The photo I posted here, was taken at the Bentonville display. Rogers is having theirs on the 9th, (postphoned from the 3rd because of flooding..) so Ill try to get some of that one too. I need to find a better spot than last year though.. no matter where you go.. too many lights. Did you ever see the Rogers display when they had it at Lake Atalanta park..? There used to be a spot on a hill overlooking the park.. and the things would explode right in front of you. Almost right in your face! It was terrific! Great for photographers. TRC TRC 07-26-2004, 08:12 PM I got the film back today.. I appologize for the poor quality reproduction here.. I have a scanner, but no room to put it. So I just took a digital photo of the photograph. Anyway.. this is one of my favorites of this years shots. TRC jasoncauthron 07-27-2004, 11:32 PM Very nice! I was hoping you'd post some shots when you got the film developed. Thanks! Jason |
