I just made a mention of the Brown Bottle (Schlitz) in another thread.

What were the names of the other Milwaukee brewery tour stops where you got to have some samples?

Pabst had the guy with the crown on out in front. Miller still has their stop.

What were they called?

I have been at the Sprecher plant when they were down in the valley, Randy Sprecher helped me pick out a case of mixed brews. I know they moved up to Glendale. Do they have a place to sample after a tour?

Lay it all down here dudes!

We always did Pabst, but Schlitz had one too.

We always talked about hitting Pabst, Schlitz, and Miller in one day, then sober up and drive to La Crosse to hit Heileman (Old Style) the next day...

Never made it though...

The best tour was late one Friday afternoon at Pabst. We were in the final group and there were some special need kids in it too. Just about the time they were going to have us leave the beer garden, some suit from PR comes down to schmooze the kids. He chats with them for a bit, then stops by our table to say "Hi".

Well, a couple hours later we left with pitchers, mugs, PBR snowmobile patches and quite a warm glow :D

Did all 3 many a time (PBR at 10am, Miller at noon, Sh*ts at 2). At that time (mid 70s) no limit so just giver. It was cheap and our out-of-towner guests really wanted to do it. Thought about Old Style, but I aready had a frig full in the listning room, so does that count as a tour or :drunk:
Just 1 of the things ya never forget!
Enjoy! (in mods)

Congrats on doing the hammertop. At Miller (the only one left) I know they limit you to two, and then show you the door.

Miller is now producing the Pabst product on contract.

There was an article in the Bugle American about doing all three in the 70's. My wife and I never did.

Cool thing about Schliz was Koss head- phone factory was right next door, so, we were always up for a good listen too! Had a buddy that worked there.
Enjoy!

That must have been a long time ago. I worked at Koss from 74 through 78, and they were at 4129 N Port Washington Road, where they still are now.

Only thing that has changed recently is the old Acoustech building (right under I43) is now a Home Depot.

Toured the Sprecher Brewery in Glendale 5-6 years ago. While you pay a nominal fee, it was the best brewery tour I've ever been on and a great trip for families as they also brew soft drinks including a great cream soda, root beer and cherry flavored cola. Their beer is even better.

The tasting at the end was fun particularly since the couple in front of us gave us their drink tickets. While they limit you to the number of free beers to taste, I won a pint glass in a little contest at the end of the tour so my drinks were full pints instead of little 10-12 oz. plastic cups. My kids really enjoyed the soft drinks too.

I see that the powers that be at AB have cut out the sampling part of the tours they do.
Probably some of InBev's thinking. I'll bet there are lots of disgruntled Bud fans out there!

Maybe they're afraid of someone taking a whiz in the beer and not being able to tell!

Go on the Lakefront Brewery tour. Great beers, they have a restaurant and if anyone needs to avoid gluten, they have one of the first gluten-free beers. Great people, too. It's on Commerce St, which is on the West bank of the river, a little North of Juneau Ave.

Bogframe- Good point! Have you had any of Schmaltz Brewing's stuff ?- they're from your neck of the woods.
