Just came across this CD that I've not heard in a long, long time. You can tell right away that it's older CD cause I need to turn up the volume compared to newer "loud" mixes.
I'm very impressed with sound/mix quality. Incredibly rich and vibrant. Nice change from some newer max'd out mixes.
This use to get play in early '90's on CD 101.9 in NYC area. Very "vinyl" sounding CD :tresbon:

I don't know that recording, but I have heard a few of his others and they, too, sounded quite nice.

I have and like the cd, it is a good overview of his lengthy career. A talented player, I was lucky enough to see him at the Bottom Line here in NYC. There is a very strong Brazilian influence in his playing and music. His playing was far superior to the majority of stuff that was played on the old CD 101 fm radio station. Just my observation, no insult to anyone who enjoys the "pop" style of modern jazz.
Tip Away, Salvador and Orange Express and highlights for me off of this record.

I have a couple of his records, they do have a somewhat "international" flair to them. Good stuff!

I have 2 of his CD's with Bill Bruford and Jeff Berlin....Production is top notch, but I find the music a tremendous bore...too Vanilla for my taste.

Tip Away is awesome. Great female vocals. Yes he does have a lot of Bosa Nova influence.

I believe it was Desert Ride that piqued my interest and led my to this CD after hearing it on CD 101.9.
When CD 101.9 frist started out I thought they played some great stuff. Turned me on to Pat Metheny, Basia, Matt Bianco, Gerald Albright...
Gerald Albright is another great CD. Live at Birdland West. One of my favorites and outstanding sound especially for a live performance. In fact I'll start new thread now that I'm queuing that up.
