So what I am trying to decide is should I get another 250 to go with my 3600 or 3300 or try a 170DC. This is for my second system down stairs.

I've never heard a DC and I'm afraid it may be too edgy. That was why I didn't care for the SC-9, aka 3650 preamp.

Sorry can not answer the question, but seeing you have a 1200 I can not help to ask - how do you like it?

If you like the sound of the 250, why not get another? I hear the DC amps have very tightly controlled bass and a very clear sound. Not bad in any way, but the earlier Marantz stuff had a bit less detail that some would call lush.

Or you can get a 300DC, and if you dont like it....sell it for no real loss.

As long as your happy with your sound now I wouldn't change it...

I love my 1200 but with one caveat. I upgraded it a pinch. I took out the mylar caps and replaced them with spraques. Also the monolithic caps on the amp board MUST GO. Also replaced with spraques.

And the 1uf on the tone board and amp board I replaced with Solon 1uf. Man's it's crazy good now.

I am looking for an amp to go with my 3600 preamp. I thought about another 250 or 250M for looks. But that seems like going in a circlebeing I already have two. One 250 and the 250 inside the 1200.

The one 250 is with the 3300 in the down stairs setup. The 3600 and 1200 are upstairs were I listen to most of the time.

I LOVE my 170DC! Unfortunately I cannot compare the 250 to the 170 DC (Never auditioned a 250). Yes the bass is tight, (which I like) but the amp is very detailed and musical.

I like this amp so much, I'm looking for a second one to run through my Luxman pre!
