I got the Zeppelin set. It sounds noticeably better to me than the mid 90's complete studio recordings set I also have. I'm happy with it!

I hope you enjoy your new purchases!

I recently got the SHM release of Fleetwood Mac Rumors from CD Japan... It is spectacular sounding and the packaging is excellent too. Now I want the Jeff Beck Who Else on Blue Spec Disc. Anyone have this yet????

Well I hurried home with my new disks eager to hear what they offer.

Listened to Steely Dan's "The Royal Scam" & "Countdown to Ecstasy"
first, I had to actually turn the volume up vs. the level I normally listen at so I don't think they're remastered "HOT" compared to the material found in the box set.

A veil has definately been removed and there is now slight but definately noticeable "air" around the instruments and vocals giving them better soundstage placement and DEPTH.
This is most noticeable with Fagens vocals which as often buried in the mix and imo most Steely Dan recordings sound the slightest bit blurred with a flat soundstage (lack of depth) as they often have many performers working at once.
It's easy to pick out harmonica in the background that I have never noticed before, back-up vocalists are more intelligible, etc... the drums and bass remain fairly buried in the mix even on such tracks as Kid Charlemange which has some fairly heavy bass lines.
only potential negative was the looping vocal chorus on ShowBiz kids sounded a little harsh at certain points??? go figure.

So good so far:thmbsp:
