Well..I'm back from Florida. Drove my Mom down last week so she could have her vehicle to jaunt around in while visiting my brother...and she sprung for the plane ticket to get me back to the Northland. (BTW...I heartily endorse Sun Country...very efficiently run airline with nice planes) En route, we stopped at a big flea market in N. Florida. (Don't recall exactly where...it was right along I-75, though) Found a few vinyl goodies there:

Bonnie Raitt....The Wheel
" ....The Glow
" ....Sweet Forgiveness
Hot Tuna........America's Choice
" ........Hoppkorv
Jeff Beck........Blow By Blow
Traffic...........(A dupe, but looked nicer than my vintage copy)
Paul Butterfield..Butterfield's Better Days
Z Z Top.........Rio Grande Mud
Freddie King...Burglar
Atlanta Rhythm Section...Live
Dave Mason...Best Of
Jim Capaldi....Whale Meat Again
And...the one that was worth the $15 I paid for the bunch:
Lee Michaels...Barrell (Both disc & sleeve in VG+ cond)

While jaunting around and seeing the sights in Ft. Myers/Naples (Check out the Edison/Ford Winter Estates in Ft. Myers...worth the $20), it was my request that no thrift was to be left unsearched. I'll say immediately that no vintage gear was to be found...period. But...the vinyl pickin's were decent:

Ramsey Lewis Trio...In Crowd Live (at the Bohemian Gardens, Wash. DC)
Kenny Rankin..........After The Roses
Gino Vannelli...........Nightwalker
Sade.....................Diamond Life ( A dupe...but couldn't resist)
Bongos, Flutes, Guitars...(On Command label...needed a little exotica)
David Sanborn.........A Change Of Heart
Jackie Gleason........How Sweet It Is (Couldn't resist...absolutely mint vinyl & sleeve)
Billy Squier.............Don't Say No
Frank Zappa..........Apostrophe
Atlantic Records Super Hits..(appears unplayed)
Dave Edmunds........DE 7th
Joe Ely..(S/T)
Joe Ely.................Hi Res
Jerry Jeff Walker....A Man Must Carry On
Flamin' Groovies.....This Is (niiiice German pressing)
Phil Alvin...............Unsung Stories (damned if I know who it is...but Sun Ra is featured)
The Border soundtrack...Ry Cooder
Benny Goodman.....Swing Into Spring (A Firestone promo on Columbia in nice shape)
All the above .99 each. The only bad thing is that I didn't want to rassle them onto the plane...so they're coming back in my Mom's van in early March and I have to WAIT to clean & listen. :(
BTW...the Goodwill on US 41 north of Naples is HUGE. There was about 12' of shelf space full of vinyl (in dire need of a basic sorting...get out discs without jackets, jackets without discs, etc.) and hundreds of CDs. Picked up Robin Trower "Bridge Of Sighs" and Level 42 "World Machine". Now have the Level 42 in all 3 formats: Cassette, Vinyl & CD. One of my wife's faves...so she's happy. Again...no vintage gear whatsoever. Bummer...as I was hoping to load up my Mom's van LOL.

Yup... 2 things to watch out for.. red lights and thrift stores. Just slam on the brakes, I say.....the Jackie Gleason album is good. I have em' all.....what a talent.

Yeah...it was fun. My Mom still has a bunch of VHS and said she needed a new rewinder (now evidently unobtanium). Told her to scope out one of the GWs we visited...and sure enough...$1.99 later she's good to go! She's also the one who spotted one I left off the list: Three Dog Night "Captured Live At The Forum". "You used to like Three Dog Night...interested in this one?" Thanks, Mom...VG+ disc & sleeve. I played the bejeebers out of Gleason at my first radio job way back when and have always had an appreciation for what "The Great One" did with an orchestra.

One funny additional note: I only ran across ONE copy of "Whipped Cream & Other Delights". Only one....maybe all the others have finally been bought up?
