After a year of delay, I finally hooked up my RS-6B's today:banana:. I had been listening to Qb's for the last several months, and it seems that the Qb's have a tighter, deeper bass than the 6B's, but the 6B's have a bit more detailed and open mids, with the highs being almost equal between the 2 pair.:thmbsp: I'll admit that my ears aren't what they were 30 years ago, but can anyone either affirm or contest what my ears are hearing? Thanks! :music:

Qb's win on all levels and the mid bass tightens up considerably with the addition of an internal brace just above the woofer and mid. The drivers in the QB are much better performers than in the RS6b.

While I've not heard either of these speakers, I do own Qe's, RS-IIIb's, and RS-IIb's. What you are hearing is not unexpected IMO. The Qb has a bigger 10" woofer than the 6b's 8" model. And although not a huge difference, the Qb is rated to play down to 42 Hz, and the 6b to "only" 45 Hz. I might expect the 6b's to have a more coherent treble; the speed of the Polydome is probably a better match to the EMIT tweeter.

OTOH, the Philips mid of the Qb's is damn solid, seeing as it's also used on the bigger Quantum series to good effect. the Polydome may be a better match to the EMIT, but the more important question may be what is a better match to the woofer, to which i would probably answer the cone mid, at least with my experience so far. Tedrick is correct in saying that the 6b may have more coherent treble, as the older EMITs seemed to have a higher noise floor to them.
