Anybody have a clue how many different groups have recorded this song? The reason I ask is I am currently listening to ELP Trilogy, the last song is Abbadon's Bolero. That got me thinking, I have:
Angelique Kidjo- Bolero
ELP of course
Ravels Bolero

Look forward to your help/responses.

Peace,

Jim

There are many orchestral recordings of Bolero. No clue how many pop/rock/jazz adaptations there might be, but an especially interesting jazz one is Rene Marie's combination of Bolero with the Leonard Cohen song "Suzanne."

Becks Bolero by Jeff Beck is the first pop/rock variation that comes to mind.

On Saturday, I heard it live, Ravel of course. It was nicely played. I like that piece, but it is a piece that I am not able to listen to over and over again.

Youth Symphony, my daughters boyfriend is first chair, second violn. They did an excellent job.

The James Gang (Joe Walsh) got in trouble by using it in Bomber without permission. Along with Funk 49, it's one of the James Gang's best songs by far.

On his 'Truth' LP.

It wasn't released but it was worked up and recorded by Jimmy Page and Jeff Beck when they were both in the Yardbirds. Man I'd like to hear that "secret" recording.

According to Wikipedia the version that was released is the same 'secret' version that you speak of.

You are right. I misread that article. I have that one, such a pity that there's one less grail to search for.
