We are getting ready to chunk a big box of cassette tapes that we used to use at work for data backups. Can these be used for anything else? Like a normal cassette? Most say MaynStream 150 MB, made in Japan, Digital Cassette 600XD, by Maynard Electronics. Seems a shame to toss them if they can be used.

Some people have used digital cassettes for audio DAT tapes ( has to be the 4mm type). But the experts are saying the digital tapes cause tape handling problems in audio DAT decks and dropouts. I have seen the dropouts first hand. So the answer is no.
