Hi all.....
I just picked up a Sansui 990 for $30 at a yard sale. I went to the yard sale looking for vinyl and asked the guy if by chance he had any equipt he wanted to sell. He said yes. His wife says " get rid of all that stuff you have in the closet".
First he brings out a TEAC noise reduction unit, then the teac R2R. Then he comes out with a Marantz 2325. I ask how much...he says $30. I say OK.
I already had about 15 records picked out I wanted to buy. Then he brings out this Sansui 990 and my mouth started watering( I thought it was a 9090db) I asked how much, he said $30, I said OK. I only had $60 bucks so I started to put the records back and he said...go ahead and keep them.
I thought it was a 9090db at first because it looks like it, but it has a black face panel instead of silver. Is the 990 a different model of the 9090db or something different?
I plugged it in and get some stations .... but all the pots must be dirty, lots of static when I move pots and switches. I will clean it good. Also it has a couple lamps out.
The Marantz has a bent volume knob and was staticky as well when knobs were moved.
I just can't beleive I got these....both in one day. I thought it would take a long time before I could ever got units like these.
