I have not used my 9191 in a while, so yesterday I played some tapes I bought at thrift store. Still sounds like new,(RichP) recap&build.
Thanks,

Have a ton of decks again, picked up another CT-F850 that needs repair.:scratch2: I will post when it is done. Thanks, John.:music: OldSkool 02-18-2009, 04:26 PM I have a 9191 that was 'sweetened' by Rich years ago and it still sounds awesome. I have cassettes I bought almost 30 years ago that still sound great on that deck ! Glad you got yours out of the mothballs ! VintageFreq 02-18-2009, 06:31 PM Looking good John! :thmbsp: You're gonna have to keep that 9191 exercised! Mike :D keesue 02-18-2009, 07:16 PM I just tuned up my 9191 and it sounds great. I bought it new in 1974 from Pacific Stereo. It was my first 'real' cassette deck. Tapes I made still sound great. Tapes made on my other decks sound good on it as well. The Dolby circuits track well. The only bummer is the lights for the meters and the back light for the tape well went out. Given I don't record on it, the issue is more of an annoyance than anything else. Great sounding deck! jleon92f 02-19-2009, 05:26 AM It's a great working and Looking Taped deck, I could have never been able to afford one of these back in the day. That is the only reason I buy tape decks used now so I can fix if needed and then Play just to hear the past. Theses babies went for big bucks. Enjoy yours, Thanks, John.:music: |
