I was premature in previous posts reporting that I had obtained two extra headshells for the TD-165. Although I have certainly paid enough money that I should have three or four extras, I wound up with only a single spare shell. It seems that the USPS is no longer reliable, though I have received many, many packages in the last five years to my home without a problem. Those were all credit card purchases; the package not delivered was my first (and last) cash purchase, and came about as a result of an AK member who pm'd me after reading of my search. So eighty-five bucks and several weeks later I have nothing to show for the expenditure; that makes the forty-plus bucks BIN I spent for a single headshell on ebay a steal by comparison - I actually received that one. I will stick with credit card purchases in the future; at least there is some recourse available if an item fails to show. Caveat emptor indeed. It has kinda taken the fun out of things for me.

That really sucks. It pisses me off just reading it, but I guess in everything we do as hobbies or for pleasure there has to be one asshole who ruins things.
Hope you can get some recourse, or at the very least get his ass booted off of here.

I'm interested to hear your experience and how your cartridges match up.

Well, let me quickly add that I don't know who the a-hole is in this case. The AK member did email me something that purports to be tracking from the USPS, and I do think he probably did mail it - though I can't really know. Perhaps someone stole it from right outside my front door...it's just remarkable that the first time I pay cash is the first time I fail to receive a package - and between my wife and I we have received at least a couple hundred shipments the past five yrs, with all arriving. I'd like to think the member really did sent the widgets, and I tend to believe so.

Okay, don't give up quite yet. I had a bike part delivered via USPS and after a month it never got to my mailbox. The seller filed a claim and got his money back and shipped another, which made it.

AND then one day I got a notice for a certified letter that was at the Post Office. I went to pick it up, knowing it was an insurance letter, and the clerk came out of the back with a letter and a package. The package was the bike seatpost that I had originally ordered. She said it was in a dead mail bin and my name rang a bell so she brought it up. It was there for about 3 months!!!!

So go check at the post office, you just never know.

I half to agree i had sent a money order to a lady in Kentucky which took the better part of 3 and a half weeks. Trust me I could have driven the dam thing down to her and back several times in 3 and a half weeks. But it arrived and I got my LP. So maybe there is hope yet.

What does the USPS tracking say? The way you phrased this makes it sound like you haven't checked.

I had the mail service trace back a small packet from Germany to Greece and they discovered it resting at a central despatch as the sender forgot to write a postal code on the packet. Don't lose faith on the system - just yet!!!

the Aker system works. I have bought several things from Aker's. Going the route of the postal service was the mistake. Don't be CHEAP and use the postal service. Spend a few bucks more and go fedex or UPS. I don't ship anything via USPS and avoid anyone shipping stuff to me via USPS if I can help it. Don't blame the AKer as they probably sent it. The postal service people here are morons. They could break an anvil.

I have to agree that the snail mail may be just that be they seem to show up eventually. And Most fellow AK`ers are Great folks whom you can trust. However there are always exceptions to the rule.

Well, it has been many moons, and nothing ever did show up. I've received well over a hundred packages at this address the last six years; what a coincidence that the only one that didn't show up involved my sending cash up front, rather than using a credit card. Never again, I assure you.

I was treated much better by a couple dealers on ebay, one of whom refunded half my money - without my requesting such a thing at all - when there was a slight problem with one function on a tuner. I even told the guy not to bother, but he insisted and a check showed up shortly. My fellow AKer figures just my tough luck.

Such an expensive problem without much to go on. I have a feeling you will get lucky on this.

If I spot one anywhere I will let you know.
