Some are missing knobs.

The top 2230b is missing all of the knobs but I found them loose inside the case! Good thing I did not power it on.

My bag, looked at the middle again and missed on the 2230's. :no: Should have paid attention to headphone the jack! :boring:

Great looking stack of mid WPC Marantz gear. :drool: Polish them all up nice, get all the knobs for 'em, and take some good night pics, or some other unique shot. :thmbsp: You got me beat, check the signature! I think you need a big one, like a 2325, to finish that stack off. :D

The truth is that only one of these receivers is mine, but the rest are in for a polish and adjustment.

They all need sometime done to them, but so far the 2230 and the 2220b that I am working on are responding well.

At one time or another, I've owned all of them except the 2235B! All of them had the same Marantz smoothness and flow.

You better be careful if you listen to each of those as you work on them. You'll end up wanting all of them. :D I've heard lots of good things about the 2220B and 2245 in particular. I'm a big fan of the 2235B myself. You should pick one of them up, great style and power. My restored one came out to 47 WPC. Still a nice stack, even if they aren't all yours. :thmbsp:

I believe it, the older the Marantz unit I have, the more tank like it seems.

All the marantz units I have ever worked with have 2 prongs. You are saying it had 3 and the unit has provisions for 3?

I am positive there are three.
Inside there is a terminal strip with three connections, and the past cord which looks original (exact same color wire) was connected with three wires to it. One of them immediately connects to the chassis.

I'll take some pictures.

It looks like there is only a blue and brown wire that goes to the power supply on the 2245 if im looking at it properly. I would use a 2 wire cord or lop off the green wire as its not needed.

Unless im mistaken here all 21 marantz pieces I have in this room use 2 prongs..

I have 45 pieces of equipment in my apartment that use 2 prong. NO marantz piece I have come across has 3 prong except for their 2000+ year built units in their reference series. I find it hard to believe this unit came original with 3 wires. Check the stack of receivers you have, they should all come with a marantz 2 prong branded plug if they are original. My older US built units have a 3 prong plug without the marantz marking....but its still the same deal.

If the customer put the 3 prong setup in, I would question what his reasoning was, and point him to the discussion on the "safety" of 3 prong setups.

Mine are pink and blue, perhaps your friends blue was on too long and it "burnt" to green, like with old neon?
