I made my reservations for AK Fest but need to know if there is a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and if there is a restaurant in the hotel. I would prefer not to rent a car - easier then.

I don't recall a shuttle, but often there are folks going to and from the airport with cars. RichPA 02-22-2009, 12:26 PM There's a restaurant in the hotel - quite good for breakfast, pretty decent for dinner, and not much at all for lunch, but it's there. Last year I found a nice little deli in walking distance (by my standards, anyway - about a 15-minute walk) for lunch. I don't know about a shuttle, but I don't think so, at least not one run by the hotel. Urizen 02-22-2009, 01:14 PM Breakfast if good, with an omelet bar, fresh fruit, cereals and the like, and is free with a voucher. Lunch is basically a soup and salad bar. Full menu for supper/dinner, full service bar adjacent to the restaurant, and a free (again with vouchers) two-drink "happy hour" (very limited selection of beers). :D No shuttle. Either hitch a ride with an AKer, or take/split a cab. Closest pizza joint is a three-hour tour from the hotel. jaymanaa 02-22-2009, 01:15 PM Breakfast if good, with an omelet bar, fresh fruit, cereals and the like, and is free with a voucher. I'm callin BS on that one Ken (sorry) there ain't no pizza joints in Michigan. wajobu 02-22-2009, 01:15 PM Closest pizza joint is a three-hour tour from the hotel. I'm in! grumpy 02-24-2009, 08:51 AM I am sorry Dave but the hotels free shuttle only ventures 5 miles from the hotel. Wish AK could help with free shuttle for all coming in to Metro. What most have been doing is post up if anyone either wants to share a rental or if one of the Ann Arborites can help out. Depending on if Matt is in town I may have him running back and forth to the airport so drop me a PM and we shall see if he can help. Grumpy EricC 02-24-2009, 08:38 PM If a shuttle cannot be arranged we should start a thread closer to the date to try and work out pickups. I know I'll be passing by the airport and I should be able to fit two people in the car. My problem is I am coming from PA so I'm not sure what time I'll be passing through yet. As of now I am guessing around 11:00 PM Friday but it is too early to tell. If anyone needs a ride and can meet me in Harrisburg PA let me know. All I ask is for you to be flexible with my schedule. x_25 02-24-2009, 09:26 PM I will be driving to the fest so i can shuttle people around in my car if it is needed. Also can haul gear if you need to get some too the hotel (Subaru Outback station wagon.) I will be there sometime on Friday. botrytis 02-25-2009, 08:10 PM Dave - Thanks for the info - I will pass it on to the reservation godess (the wife). |
