Greetings all-

New here, I received a free set of Boston Acoustics A400s which I should be refoaming shortly. I believe these beasts are 4 ohm speakers. I will be picking up a sweet looking AU-517 today, my question- can the Sansui handle the speakers or will disaster happen?

If disaster will happen, would the AU-717 be powerful enough? I really dig the look of that era Sansui.

Very little difference in the two and both should do fine. Welcome!

Love the 517. I think it's 65wpc vs 85wpc in an 8 ohm load. In a 4 ohm load it will rate at more wpc.

I ran A150s and A200s off as low as 30wpc/8 ohms.

Will do. I should be able to get those measurements by the weekend. Also, I did some digging and found a previous post where you mentioned speaker foam from "GordonW" and Audio Atlanta. I will be ordering the foam in the next day or two. Thanks again for all your help.
