Dave918 07-13-2004, 08:33 PM Those are some great photos Chops. What kind of camera do you use and how did you setup the first set (camera settings, lighting, etc.)?

Would you believe all it is is a $150 Fuji FinePix A210 point & shoot digital?
All I did to make those shots was shut off the built-in flash, and use one or two flashlights. I also used my trusty Bogen tripod and pistol-grip ballhead with quick release. Both of which together cost more than twice as much as the camera!
I used to have a Nikon CoolPix 990, but I wasn't happy with it, and sold it, and put that money towards my amp.
michael w 07-13-2004, 11:43 PM Nice pix.
Those KT88's sure look pretty.
The Yammie T-1 is a nice tuner too.
;)
Wardsweb 07-14-2004, 01:12 PM :scratch2: Gee, Looks a lot like the Ella Fredt300B brought to the bottlehead meet in San Antonio.

Yea, Yea, I know it's the same company. :D

That's a nice looking amp indeed!
Say, did you get a chance to listen to it at all? If so, what did you think? And what speakers were used?
Just curious.
Thatch_Ear 07-14-2004, 09:55 PM Same amp, the Ella is the kit. You know Fred, if you can build it, he will buy.
I heard it hooked up to some small pipes with Fostex full range drivers and it was very clean and life like. Actually there were no hard to drive speakers there that day besides Wards ML pannels and they were never taken off the SS.
Wardsweb 07-14-2004, 10:21 PM Here it's driving some vintage 1961 JBL C38's (2-way: D123 and 075).

Here driving a pair of vintage Altec A7 Voice of the theatre.

The Ella was quite impressive. It had plenty of guts to give a nice tight bottom end and that tube edge to tame the JBL 075's and the Altec 511B horns. I'm just waiting for him to get tired of it, so I can guy it at a "used" price. :D
chops 07-16-2004, 05:59 PM I just popped the 6550's in for a little while to see how they compare to all the other tubes I have used thus far.
From first listen, (been playing for about a half hour), I would have to say they compare very closely to my Valve Art EL34's. The bass is there, but a little soft around the edges, the midrange is a bit on the lean side but not thin, and the treble is extended with a slight bit of sibelence, but not unbearable.
I'll have an update later tomorrow after they settle down in the amp. Anyway, on with the pics..... there's only two of them this time.

chops 08-02-2004, 07:00 AM Since I'm not using my Yamaha T1 tuner that much any more, (crappy stations around here), I am selling it on eBay.
I just figured I would let you all know.
And to comply with AK's wishes, I am not posting a link to the eBay listing. I'm sure you can find it easily enough. :D
