Hi, Just wondering if my 230V UK Linn LK140 can be used ok in the USA on 110v?

There is not a rotary dial to select voltage on the base of the unit (like some Linn equipment has). The transformer inside does not disclose what voltages it accepts on the sticker and the back of the amplifier just gives a list of what fuses to run on what voltages. The manual mentions nothing about whether 230v can also run 110v it just says that if you put 230v in to a 110v transformer bad things will happen! I am thinking that it may be possible just to change the fuse to the correct rating? Am I correct? It seems there was a seperate Japanese 100v model.

The I believe you need a step up converter. Ive owned many linn systems and most now are switch mode ranging power supplies so they will work anywhere. Older systems usually had a switch to change from 110 to 230. Not too sure if you can just change the fuse, hopefully someone will answer that for you shortly. Best of luck, its a great amp.

Well, changing the fuse cetainly won't change the voltage! The current rating would have to be doubled for half the voltage, WHEN the power transformer is able to accept 110.

Nearly all North American homes have 230 Vac coming in for the oven.

so a step up/down voltage transformer would do the trick?
