I've been trying to locate 6.3 volt festoon lamps for my 1970's Technics gear without any luck :sigh:.....should I try 1 1/4" x 1/4" fuse lamps or is there a sourcs for the festoons?

thanx much in advance, Chuck

Will these work? No affiliation.

Those are fuse lamps, festoons have the pointed metal end caps and usually - not always - the glass tube is larger diameter than the end caps.

I responded on this in the other forum, can probably point you at a source if you will include the wattage or current draw for the lamps in question.

I've been looking at those very same fuse lamps and I do think they might do it.

An SF6 fuse lamp will often fit in place of a festoon lamp if you match the end cap diameter and overall length.

The one you'd want is the GF570, which is 6.3V/250mA. Digikey has 'em for $0.80 each or something like that.

Whoops, just looked on Digikey and they appear to be a special order for $1.46, non-stocked, and 100 pc. lots.

I have another place I get a similar lamp that I need to reorder, has them with no minimum and about the same cost. Send me a PM if you want to get some, I can add it to my reorder.

even tho these 'fuse' bulbs were quite a bit smaller in diameter than the 'festoons', they snapped in very 'positively' and work nicely. The 7 volters should last longer under the 6.2 vac supply on the ST 9030. Thanx all! Chuck

Out of curiosity, can you put a meter on one and measure the current draw vs. whatever voltage they are running at in circuit?

That guy's listing was pretty squishy on specific ratings, would be good to know exactly which lamp this is and what it's rated for as far as current/wattage.

Thanks,

John
