I picked up a pair of these today. The cabinets look amazing. I think they are rosewood or something. They need a woofer re-foam and the mids are shot. Does anybody have mids for sale on this site? I can do the woofers. I will post pictures after i get home. I have never seen Infinitys with this type of wood.

There is usually a set of mids on epay... or you can buy some Vifa drivers that are similar.

Be prepared to spend a ton to feed them signal they are going to like. Not as bad as the 8s or 9's though...

vtomike, didn't you find a pair of RS4.5s or something like that for really cheap a while back?

Yes, i got the 4.5's dirt cheap. The Kappa 7's were $55 dollars. Now i have 4.5's, Rs 5B's, Qb's and the Kappa 7's.

nice! the infinity addiction strikes again. i had the 9s for a while, fantastic speakers. i did have problems getting seamless bass across the 90Hz XO point, but you won't have the same problem with the 7s.

Here are some pictures. I have not cleaned them up yet. I get sound out of all the drivers. Is this the wood they came with or was this an option?

Infinity did make some speaker from other woods besides oak as an upgrade....There was a guy who posted links to other kappa's made from these exotic woods. I forget what that wood is but its not rosewood. Very nice though!!!!

I believe the other option was Santos woods, I mean, other than the standard oak. But that does not look like Santos wood.

That might be Santos wood after all........It is just that the darker shade had me confused......I have never seen it this dark on Infinities, and that might mean this particular veneer was from an older tree and more towards the center.

The top on one is darker than the other. The corners look like the same stuff. If anybody has pictures of other exotic Infinity's could you post them?

I do not remember seeing that many after all........The last pair a saw was the model 8 on that site .....

Santos wood is a type of mahogany and it probably came from Brasil, the veneer on your 7s that is.

It is normal to see differences in the wood shade, depending on the age of the tree and other factors and that is OK. Those variations make them more special in my humble opinion..

Just be happy that you have almost one of a kind speaker......:D

The grain on those 7's is beautiful!
