Insane! Saw him with the Flecktones and he blew the walls and roof off. And it was outside! Just amazing.

Thanks!!

Fan of both Victor and his brother Futureman. Have seen the Flecktones a few times.

Seen him at some really nice places here in boston.

and funny- Saturday a bunch of us boston-area AKers got together. Wooten came up in topic, and later at still another friend's house, the host put on Bela Fleck.

So, quite timely discussion.

QUESTION- Wooten recently teamed up with at least two other bassists, and put out an album. Anyone know what it is? I'd like a copy...

I think Wooten is one of the best of the best bassists. I've seen him a number of times, only with the Flecktones, where he impressed me beyond measure. Unfortunately, I just don't find myself overly fond of the Flecktones on record (as opposed to live). They enthrall you live but somehow I don't find their recorded music to be particularly "listenable" in a home setting. Go figure.

I saw him with Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller a few months ago at a great little theater on LI (check out imactheater.org). Outstanding show.

As an aside to all you bass aficionados... anyone familiar with Randy Coven?

Big fan and had the pleasure of meeting the man a few years back. He's played with a friend of mine several times over the years.

he's been an inspiration to me as a guitarist, and as an experimental amatuer bassist....he's also a very intellectual person if you get a chance to hear what he has to say about his view of music

Hey Guys,

Check out the man. The Budah himself, Mr. Billy Dickens. If anyone has a chance to ask Victor about Billy Dickens I'm sure he'll cite him as major influence and one of the reasons for picking up the bass in the first place.
