View Full Version : Greatest Song Ever! TotalRecall 03-13-2009, 09:27 PM Ahh. There's so many, but if there only has to be one.............. Led Zepplin - Stairway to Heaven..... What's yours? Jailtime 03-13-2009, 09:36 PM Well, you already voted Stairway, that's mine, so +1 on that. I know, it's overplayed and all that, but just give it a good close listen, and feel the majesty in that song. Amazing progression, interesting lyrics, breathtaking solo, Stairway has it all. Voodoo Child slight return by the Hendrix Experience is in a close second. The first minute has everything you could ever expect from rock. I have to nominate a third, Bridge over Troubled Water, best vocal performance of all time. Enjoy the tunes! :music: hifi_nut 03-13-2009, 09:39 PM Queen´s "Bohemiam Raphsody" head to head with Louis Armstrong´s "What a Wonderful World". tentoze 03-13-2009, 09:42 PM Moved to Music Forum. grillebilly 03-13-2009, 09:50 PM Yummy Yummy Yummy Ohio Express Tuco 03-13-2009, 09:53 PM 'Ave Maria' OvenMaster 03-13-2009, 10:01 PM The Doors - Love Her Madly SkyLounger 03-13-2009, 10:04 PM I've been debating with myself lately about that question. A tune I heard for the first time last year has constantly been "present" in my head, meaning I constantly keep going back to it. The song is SRXT from Bloc Party. It's certainly one of the, if not THE best "actual" song for me. Now, I have to decide whether or not it is an all-time favorite... So many to choose from! tshoejohn 03-13-2009, 10:05 PM Won't get fooled again - The Who Drybasement 03-13-2009, 10:05 PM Rolling Stones - Gimme Shelter shacky 03-13-2009, 10:27 PM So many greats - Layla, Stairway, Sympathy for the Devil. My wife has heard me tell her many, many times "this is the best R&R song ever" and it's probably never been the same song twice. I love the studio version on Second Winter. Just saw Johnny last week in Rochester, NY. Wife and I got right in front of Johnny for encores and last song was Highway 61 Revisted on that classic '63 Thunderbird. He aslo played Miss Ann but it was weak compared to Second Winter. He's only 65 but looks frail. There's a great rare release called Come On In My Kitchen. If you're a Johnny fan pick it up or download. shacky 03-14-2009, 07:01 PM Another nomination Feelin' All Right - Joe Cocker. I think 2 or 3 guys from Traffic sat in on studio recording. stoutblock 03-14-2009, 08:31 PM Montrose - Make it last (at least it is today). tomorrow it will go back to Led's Rock-n-Roll paulinmichig 03-14-2009, 08:36 PM Just about anything off Quadrophenia.
