Just picked this up yesterday... When googling around for info/value on it, all the covers I saw of it was a red tinted photo of the band on the front. my copy has a blue tinted photo.

It is missing the inner sleeves, but is in great shape other than that.

Anyone have a clue as to the origin of the blue cover? Is it a foreign release, or just a color variant, and if it's just a variant, is it an uncommon release? Seems odd that I can't come up with much info about it....

Cover- E2 44035 The Clash The Story Of The Clash Vol 1 Epic Stereo 1988

LP's- E44036 & E44037 Deadwax says - MASTERDISK DMM

Nowhere on the cover or LP's does it list a country where it was made...

If your is on Epic, it's more than likely a US/Canadian release. AFAIK, all other were on the CBS label. Wasn't there a Volume 2 with a red tinted cover? I want to say the CD version was both in a two or three disc set with the red cover.

Volume II was never made or released, it was rumored that it would consist of live tracks...

I have Epic labels, but it does say CBS or Epic/CBS on the jacket in a few spots, apparently epic was owned by CBS at that time (1988)

The blue cover remains a mystery... what's the DMM in the deadwax? The only DMM I am familiar with is "Direct Metal Mastering" (IIRC) that i have seen on some album jackets, but there is nothing on the jacket about it being a 'DMM' pressing.

Epic was always part of CBS (Columbia) until they were swallowed uRp by Sony.
I dunno, maybe they had a batch where they ran outta red ink. :)
