Today Nat Cole would be 90 if he were alive. An American icon. My favorite is his rendition of "Stardust". The album "Love is the thing" was my favorite also. Nat apart from being a singer was a very good jazz pianist.

I just picked up his 'Ramblin' Rose' LP in mono and it's going on the TT next...

Thanks for the info, and Happy Birthday Nat. Preston

Too bad he was found of the tobacco. Another incredible talent who's life was cut too short.

He must not have died that long ago.

I saw him a few years back singing on TV with his daughter.

<grin>

Seriously, a big fan of the great one.

Grew up listening to Ramblin' Rose and of course the XMas songs, recently discovered his collaboration with George Shearing, which is easily his best I've heard so far...

Yeah, me, too... The remake of "Unforgettable" w/his daughter Natalie was OK, but the added "Sexy '80s" music kinda detracted from it for me...

Listening to him last night, as matter of fact. Superb is all I can say.

One of the best ever. And I agree, an under appreciated jazz pianist.

Happy Birthday, Nat!

Nat was as cool as the other side of the pillow. His Christmas album is a true classic and a holiday favorite at my house.
I recently picked up his "Stepping out of a Dream" album, which focuses on the NKC Trio's 50's and 60's Tunes.Very easy to listen to...

My grandparents had a bunch of his records and listened to them when I was too young to appreciate how great he was.......
God bless him, one of a kind.

A giant indeed, first as a jazz pianist and then as singer. As I heard dj say "jazz's loss was popular's musics gain." His brother Freddie is a good singer as well.

Plus I proposed to my wife while we were listening to Nat King Cole, how could she say no?

His popular song work is great and his jazz trio and quartet work is stunning--a great talent.
